Misl Net

Currently backlogged.

MislNet.com

Misl Net started as a directory for professionals and businesses in the security, defence, and justice space. Me and a friend (software developer) built it from the ground up. I handled the design, data structure, social media, and early client outreach. It took a significant amount of development time to get the site live, but we learned a lot in the process.

We got some early traction and a few sales, which validated the idea. But we quickly realised that to do it properly, it needs a dedicated team handling different parts of the operation — particularly on the sales and social media side. That's the bottleneck more than anything else. The idea itself still has legs.

It's currently backlogged, but not abandoned. When it comes back into focus, the plan is to onboard people from my network to take ownership of the pieces that slowed us down the first time.

Where the vision is heading

The longer-term direction has shifted into something I find genuinely meaningful. There's a sense of purposelessness we've noticed amongst Sikh youth — and a real risk that without direction, some get pulled towards gangs, cults, or extremist groups. This isn't a new problem, but it's one that cuts particularly close given that the Sikh tradition is already martial in nature. The energy is there, it just needs redirecting more productively and legally.

So we've started advocating for young Sikhs to consider careers in their host nation's armed forces, police, justice sector, or private security. Misl Net in its next form would serve as a directory for Sikhs who want to form Misls (service providers for security, defence, or justice) — each with their own portfolio page, listed and vetted against minimum quality and accountability standards. This could range from neighbourhood watch groups and event security, all the way to private security firms or law practices. Over time, it becomes a broader directory serving both Sikh and non-Sikh providers in the sector.
